Notice of Race
|
|
|
1.0 Rules
|
|
|
1.1 The regatta will be governed by the ‘rules’ as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing 2005-2008 including Appendix D
|
|
|
1.2 The Yachting New Zealand Safety Regulations Part 1 shall apply.
|
|
|
The “Single Flag Protest Procedure”, D2.3(a) shall be used. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
1.4 All advertising must be declared prior to registering for the event and must not conflict at any time with the event sponsor. |
|
|
|
|
|
2.0 Changes to Racing Rules |
|
|
|
|
|
2.1 In Rule D5.1, change red to yellow. |
|
|
3.0 Changes to Class Rules
|
|
|
The rules of the 420 class will be changed as follows;
Spinnakers and trapezes will not be used and standing rigging and jib luff tension may not be adjusted without permission from the Race committee |
|
|
4.0 Eligibility and Entry
|
|
|
4.1 The regatta is open to all teams comprising sailors over 15 years of age. Teams will consist of six sailors at least one of which must be female. Teams will sail as three pairs of skipper and crew whose combined weights must exceed 130kg. or be made up with sand filled plastic bottles attached to the base of the mast . Teams need to bring their own weight bottles. One reserve sailor per team will be allowed

4.2 Entries will be accepted until the closing date of 4th, May. 07, by completing the attached entry form accompanied by a fee of $ 420 + GST NZ in cheque form and mailing it to the treasurer, NZTRA Box 168 Warkworth.
|
|
|
4.3 Late entries may be accepted at the Race Committee’s discretion up to 25th. May, if prior verbal notice has been given.
|
|
|
4.4 A refundable damage bond of $ 500. NZ shall be paid by separate cheque made payable to NZTRA.
In the event of a team causing major damage to a boat or boats they may be required to pay an additional damage bond payment if they wish to continue competing in the event.
|
|
|
4.5 To be eligible to compete in this event each team member shall be a financial member of a club recognised by the competitor’s national authority.
|
|
|
|

5.0 Schedule of Events
|

5.2 Briefing:
Saturday 2nd. 9.30 am. |

5.3 Racing Schedule:
The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race is early on Saturday, racing may continue till late.
Racing will take place between 9.30 am and 4.0 pm. on Sunday
Monday is et aside for reserve day if required.
No race will start after 4.0pm. on the last day of the event

5.4 Racing Schedule:
It is intended that racing will consist of three round robins,
However this schedule may be changed, at the discretion of the race Committee, if weather conditions do not permit completion of the programme. |

6.0 Sailing Instructions
|
|
|
The Sailing Instructions will be available at briefing.
|
|
|
7.0 Racing Area
|
|
|
The races will be held in Algie’s Bay.
|
|
|
8.0 Courses to be Sailed
|
|
|
The course will be a right hand S. |
|
|
9.0 Scoring
|
|
|
Scoring will be in accordance with RRS Appendix D3 and D4 |
|
|
|
|
|
For the event to be ‘completed’ at least one round robin shall be completed

12 Further Information
|
|
|
12.1 Algie’s Bay near Warkworth is an hours drive North of Auckland The sailing will take place off a pleasant sandy though tidal beach fronting on reasonably sheltered waters.
