Mon Another day of blue skies and a bitterly cold wind - at the time of sorting out the program appeared light. But once out there, the wind slowly started building. Racing taking place between Mahu & WKS for 1 st & 2 nd and Cull Cats & Common Browns for 7 & 8. After 3 rounds of races, the call came through to reef after some guests of 30 Knots, but then a broken goose neck, and prospect of increasing winds, the call was made to finish racing for the regatta. Back to shore and to the rule books, SI to work out final result - after a lot of discussion by the wise men, WKS first, Mahu second and Cull Cats 7 th Common Browns 8 th . Sun Photo by Kirsty Short from Start Boat Well day of surprises and changes of fortunes, first weather, blue skies and light breezes to start with, till about 3, and then after a very timely call by Richard to finish racing for day, the wind picked up as people sailed to shore with a few boats having a bit of fun getting in. Racing, Mahu's day, taking care of Black Sheep to make the finals, and WKS taking out "O" for Awesome to make the final. Black Sheep took care of "O" for Awesome to take out 3rd and Silver Sails taking out St Kents to take out 5th. Semi-finals between Cull Cats and Whangarei went down to the wire, before Cull Cats took it out. Racing tomorrow is for 1 & 2, 7 & 8, 10 & 11 Call will be made at 8.15 based on weather as to priority Teams see below for main skippers Sat Forecasts was not very nice, but other than a brief bit of rain it was a very pleasent day on the water, with 10 - 15 knots easterly, which dropped out on the last 2 races. Some top sailors from around the country taking part and some good racing. At the end of the day, positions going into the finals for top 6 Black Sheep (Ruebin, Bradley, Andy) "O" for awrsome (Chris Steele, Thomas Saunders, Jamie Dawson) Mahurangi (David, Grant, Cullen St Kents (Andrew Ardean, Tom, Hamish) WKS (Adrian, James. Delin) Silver Sails (Steph, Sam O, Rachel) going into finals for silver Winwol Browns (Ash, Luke, Gen) Cull Cats (Haden, Mcleans team) Whangarei (Joe, Benny, Julia) Boomtown Heroes (New Plymouth sailors) Taranaki Terrors (ew Plymouth Girls) So hopefully the rain and wind stays away for another day or so... It times for the old folks to show the pretenders how it done - open nats at Buckland's details
