Spring Teams Regatta Attracts Record Numbers

The Sandspit Yacht Club’s annual Spring Regatta, sailed over the past three days at Algies Bay, attracted unprecedented interest ahead of the Team Sailing World Championships in Perth next February. Four international teams attended, from Brisbane, Tasmania (Hutchins School), the Cook Islands, and Paddy’s team all the way from Ireland/UK via Australia. Eleven New Zealand teams brought the total number of sailors to over  90, aged from 12 to adult, supported by 30 officials and shore crew.
There were two fleets,  basically Fleet A, those with more experience and Fleet B, which are school teams.
