Friday April 16 - Finals Day
1705 - Kerikeri won that, but there is no time to sail the final round. Therefore according to the sailiing instructions the winner is decided on placings at the end of the rouund robin. Provisionally that is Kerikeri, but this needs to be confirmed. Also only one round of the Girls final could be sailed. Napier Girls is the clear winner there.
1645 - Hold fire. Westlake has applied for redress and the last race is being resailed again. There is a question now as to whether the final will be able to be sailed due to time limits. Kerikeri won that, but there is no time to sail the final round
1635 - Kerikeri have beaten Westlake 2-1. Finals about to start.
1610 - The semis have been cut down to best of 3 (instead of 5) due to time constraints. Tauranga is through to the final.
1540 - After round 1 of the Girls Final, Napier are leading with 3 wins from 3 races.
1515 - Westlake Boys and St Kentigern are through to the semi-final.
1440 - And we're off with the finals! Only the Championship and Girls finals will be sailed due to the tiime lost to weather today.
1355 - Start boat reports that its anchor is holding now. Sounds like fun. In Jerusalem Bay, which is not so good for spectators at the Taupo Clubhouse.
1315 - We had a course laid, but it proved unsuitable. Re-laying in a more sheltered area. Start boat reports that its anchor is holding now. Sounds like fun.
1150 - Not quite so windy now, so we will continue at Taupo Yacht Club. Championship and Girls finals will be run first and then the other races if there is time. So the 0700 description is no longer valid. More details to come. We hope to start racing at 1230. Boats are being rigged, courses laid and sailors getting ready.
0955 - Wind still howling straight in. Postponment flag up until 1030 at least. Acacia Bay is dead flat and perhaps the Championship and Girls final fleets will go around there to determine the winners. Will have to trailer the boats though. Update shortly.
0830 - Unfortunately its a bit windy at the moment, coming from the S, so its got the whole fetch of the lake to build a sea. In a holding pattern at the moment. We may have to adjust the planned programme for the day, if the delay last too long.
0700 - The aim is to give everybody as much sailing as possible today. We will run the two courses. On the ALPHA course the top six will race as per the sailing instructions. St Kents and MacLeans will sail off in a best of three series. The winner will sail Tauranga in a best of three series. The winner of this will sail in the final best of 5 series to determine the winner of the Championship. Westlake Boys and Mahurangi will sail off in a best of three series. The winner will sail in a best of three against Kerikeri. The winner goes through to the final. Those 4 teams not in the final will sail off to determine the 3rd to 6th place.
The bottom three teams from Fleet A (who did not make the sail off) will sail against the Fleet B teams (not in the girls final).
On the GAMMA course the Girls final will be sailed which will entail three round robins. The team with the most wins from these finals will win the Girls Trophy.
The remaining teams from Fleet C and D will sail against each other.
Thursday April 15
1615 - After a late run, Westlake Boys has come through to take 4th spot and join Kerikeri, Tauranga, St Kents, MacLeans and Mahurangi for the final series to decide the Championship.
1540 - It's getting tight at the top of Fleet A. Kerikeri will be one of the top 2 with Tauranga being the other one. St Kents, MacLeans, Mahurangi should be three of the others, with the final place to be decided once the round has finished. It could go down to the last race.
1445 - Time to start thinking about the finals. For the overall trophy, the top 6 teams in the Fleet A will sail off. Teams 1 and 2 will sail the winners of the sail offs between teams 3 to 6. The winners of these semi finals will sail off in the final to decide the championship. There are a record 10 girls teams this year. The top four at the end of the Preliminary rounds will sail off in a series of 3 round robins depending on the time available. The team with the most wins will win the Girls Trophy. Napier Girls, Nelson Girls and New Plymouth Girls from Fleet B, will be joined by Westlake Girls from Fleet C.
1100 - Overcast now, but nice SSW at about 10 - 12 kts. We should be able to get through the 3rd round today and may even start some of the finals series this afternoon, if there is a concern about dodgy weather tomorrow.
0840 - Another fine day. WSW at about 10 - 12 kts, so should get away on time. Draws and results links will be posted when available.
Wednesday April 14
1650 - Plan to have an early start tomorrow with another full round. Today was great with good breezes and tight racing. Countbacks were required to break ties in several of the fleets.
1640 - Repechages are underway.
Fleet A/B: Marlborough Boys, MacLeans, Napier Girls and Nelson Boys. The result is Nelson Boys go up to Fleet A and Marlborough Boys go down to Fleet B.
Fleet B/C: Auckland Grammar, New Plymouth Boys, Long Bay and Napier Boys. Long Bay goes up to B and New Plymouth Boys down to C.
Fleet C/D: Mt Aspiring, Paraparaumu, Scots and Tauranga/Waikato Girls. Tauranga/Waikato Girls go up to C and Mt Aspiring go down to D.
1520 - Round Robin nearly finished. Although these results are still to be confirmed, Kerikeri is out in front from Westlake Boys and Tauranga in Fleet A. MacLeans and Marlborough Boys will sail in the repechage. Fleet B has one race to go, but looks like Nelson Boys and Napier Girls will sail in the repechage for Fleet A with Auckland Grammar and New Plymouth Boys to sail in the repechage for Fleet C.
Fleet C still has 4 races to go, with Long Bay and either Westlake Girls or Napier Boys to sail in the repechage for Fleet B. Looks like Mt Aspiring and Scots College will sail in the Fleet D repechage.
Fleet D also has 4 races to go, with Paraparaumu/Wellington Girls and either Timaru Boys or Tauranga/Waikato Girls to sail in the repechage.
1150 - Good day so far. Weather is fine with a WSW of about 10 to 12 kts. A couple of the fleets have reefs in the mainsails.

So after the Fleet C/D repechage Taupo Combined go up to C and Queen Charlotte go down to D. In the Fleet B/C repechage Nelson Girls go up and Long Bay go down.
1445 - Fleets C and D have finished their 1st round, with Fleet B 1 race away. Fleet A which had one more team in it, still has about 5 races to go. After that then the repechage races can be sailed to see who goes up or down.

Monday April 12
1715 - Racing finished for the day. Lets hope for more wind Tuesday.
1530 - We're having trouble finishing races in the allotted time. Re-laying the course at the moment. No races finished on the Alpha course and only 4 on the Gamma course.
1430 - Both courses are now underway. Its all go. 5 kts fom SE. Results will start to filter through shortly.
1400 - We have a race underway in Fleet C to test the conditions. About 4 kts from SE.
1325 - Still waiting.
1125 - Still in hold mode. A little bit of wind down the lake filling in from the South(ish). Courses are laid and sailors sitting on changeover boats, poised. Great day though.
0945 - At the end of each round the 2 teams in each fleet with the least wins will sail off against the top 2 teams in the next fleet down to give all teams the opportunity of moving from one fleet to another.
0915 - First day of competition. Beautiful sunny day. Boats rigged with postponement flag up waiting for a breeze. Click
here to see who will be racing who and when. Note that there are two courses, so once racing gets underway, if there is a good breeze, the Round Robins will be completed quite quickly.
Sunday April 11Teams gather on Sunday for registration, weigh-in and Regatta opening.
